Unreal Tournament 3 Hot Potato / Tag Gametype
Rules
The rules and mechanics of the game as are follows:
- One player randomly becomes "it" at the start of the game
- This player has a certain amount of time to shoot someone else to make them "it" (varies depending upon the number of players - the less players, the more time and vise versa)
- Players are no longer "it" when they shoot someone
- Only players who are "it" can shoot
- Players die when their "it" time runs out if they do not shoot someone else in time
- Damage is only dealt when their "it" time runs out (normal gunfire does not do damage, etc.)
- "It" players receive an audible warning when they become "it" and visibly turn more red the longer they are "it"
- Multiple players can be "it" due to area of effect weapons
- Players must find and shoot players who are not "it" in order to stop being "it"
- The "it" time resets for players when they become "it" (unlike in the traditional hot potato game the "it" time does not carry over)
- Players start the game with five lives and are eliminated when they die five times
- The winner is the last player standing
Additional Project Information
This project was created for an assignment that required a new gametype for the UT3 game. The project took three days to complete (twelve hours). The artificial intelligence for the bots was not required and not included as part of the project.
