Game Details
Gravity was a two month long game project in which the seven developers were learning the Unreal Development Kit Engine to prepare for a larger project later in the curriculum at the Guildhall at SMU. The project reached the alpha stage before developers ended the class. The game features one level with five to ten minutes of gameplay.
In the game, the player plays the role of a testing subject who must traverse a treacherous path populated by hazardous environments and dangerous machines. The player starts armed with two guns, a laser that shoots a projectile that bounces off walls multiple times, and a gravity gun that shoots a cylindrical volume and allows the player to maintain momentum in any direction while inside the volume. Enemies in the game include spider robots that explode when near the player, stationary turrets that shoot rockets at the player, and a three stage boss whose attacking patterns change when the player shoots it enough. The boss starts as a mech robot walking around a large room while shooting lasers at the player. The boss transforms into a stationary robot that shoots rockets and lasers at the player during the second stage. Finally, the robot turns into a large spider robot that quickly chases the player and explodes when the player kills it. The boss fight demands a good amount of understanding of when to use each type of weapon.

Roles and Responsibilities
For this project I was one of three level designers who were directly involved in creating the major level featured in the game. My roles for the project were as follows:
- Maintain, help write, and edit the Game Design Document and Level Design Documents
- Design and implement puzzles in the level
- Supervise and lead the seven person team
- Program the mechanics of one of the two weapons in the game (the laser)
- Maintain and oversee proper communication between all developer disciplines
- Create a memorable and interesting movie matinee at the end of the game
