Story/Gameplay
Marcus and the COG soldiers find themselves without shelter as night approaches. Knowing the Kryll will devour them without hesitation, the crew attempts to enter an unknown building. Marcus enters first and the door locks behind him. Marcus must find a way to override the door's lock and let in the other men. The building turns out to be a facility where humans were running experiments on the Locusts when something went wrong. Marcus's activation of the lock override unleashes the formerly frozen Locusts. Other Locusts emerge in the facility as Marcus tries to get back to the door and the other COG soldiers before the Kryll arrive.
Design Goals
- Create a cold and creepy atmosphere
- Re-use the same playspace, but make each traversal feel very different
- Allow the player to make use of cover in creative and fun ways
- Use existing voice dialog to develop the story
- Reward the player with a fun cinematic ending
- Create a unique military testing lab-esque playspace
