Player Routes and Perspective on Causeway
Design Goals
- Mimic the feel and gameplay of official Halo maps
- Provide many pathing choices for the player at all times during the game
- Allow players to create strategies before and during the game
- Balance the map for Team Slayer
- Disallow camping areas of the map and overly powerful weapons
- Provide ample cover, but still allow for open flow and unique vantage points
- Allow players to beneficially use the Halo: Reach class system easily without imbalance
- Make the playspace believable without solely catering to gameplay
Editor Roadblocks
Using Bungie's ForgeWorld Map Editor comes with some roadblocks that caused some unexpected and unusual development workarounds:
- Console Editor
- Lighting
- Limited Mesh Selection
